holiday: instagrammed

It's been nearly two weeks since I've been back and my holiday now seems like a distant memory... sigh. While I'm still going through all my holiday photos I thought I'd share some of my favourite instagrams. Oh, to be back in Vienna... or London... or Paris!

You can follow me on instagram @eversopink and you might also like to follow my sister Kate @gordonkl because some of these photos are hers and she takes really good photos!

europe, here we come

Today I hop on a plane and head to Europe for four weeks. It's been many months in the planning and I can't believe we're flying out! Two weeks travelling around Germany, Austria and Slovenia, then two weeks in London with a sneaky weekend in Paris thrown in for good measure. I haven't been back to London since I lived there in 2009 and I'm absolutely giddy about going back. There are still so many things to see and do there.

You can follow my travels on instagram and twitter - my username for both is @eversopink

Better get back to the packing...

indulge me

It's my birthday tomorrow and while it's a little self indulgent of me to put together a list of presents that I want, I did anyway! Actually, I'm most excited about having the day off work, eating cake and spending the day with my family - especially my baby niece. A girl couldn't ask for more. Well, I guess an iPad would be nice as well!

i love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains

Happy Australia Day everyone! Hope you all have a gorgeous day celebrating this beautiful country that we are so lucky to live in. I'm having an extra long weekend by the beach... bliss!

colour + design {back to school}

Every Monday night for the last eight months I have been going to school, studying colour and design as part of the Certificate IV in Design at the International School of Colour of Design. I finished last week and am graduating tomorrow night (bring on the champers!) At the beginning of this year I attended an information session at their campus and on that night I could tell this was the course for me. It's an introductory (foundation) course which teaches you everything colour and design related and dabbles in colour design, surface design, graphic design, visual arts and interior styling. You can then go on to specialise in these fields with their diploma courses. I started the course thinking I would go on to do graphic design, and I finished the course thinking the same. Although it would be fun to do all the diploma courses (which a lot of people do apparently).

The course involves painting a whole lot of colour chips like in this image (we painted hundreds of them), mixing paints, learning about colour ranges, drawing, collaging, the principles and elements of design - there was so much to learn. There are assignments to do but it's pretty fun as homework goes - making colour collages, making a 3D room and researching your favourite artist - no essay writing here! Note: magazines, Pinterest, a stanley knife and a cutting mat are your best friends for the duration of this course.

I think one of the best things about this course was the ladies in my class - all coming from different career backgrounds, all wanting to learn new skills and change their future. They were all so supportive and inspiring. I can't wait to see what we all do next. It will be colourful I'm sure!

I'm wondering what to do with all my leftover paint chips. Send your ideas my way...

november: instagrammed

I can't believe I didn't post for the whole of November - oops. It's nice to be posting again and to have so much to look forward to in December. I'm planning on dedicating some more time to this blog and to jazzing it up a little - thanks to blogshop which is on in Sydney this week - I'm so excited!

Here's what happened in November...
  • Sculpture by the Sea
  • The tool kit of balloon artist Matt Falloon
  • The amazing flamingo he made for me. I called him Kevin after watching the movie Up. I love Pixar movies!
  • Birdcages in Angel Place in Sydney
  • Traffic light shoes - my sister needs to stop buying the same pair of shoes!
  • I became an aunty to my absolutely gorgeous niece. I just want to eat her up she's so small and cute
  • Never gonna give you up - reliving the 80s with a Rick Astley concert.  We were some of the youngest there and it was such a cool show
  • Gorgeous pink peonies just because

Hope you all had a good November  xxx

sculpture by the sea

We picked the perfect day to visit Sculpture by the Sea this past Saturday. Blue sky, sun shining and whales breaching off the coast. The Bondi to Tamarama walk is such a great place to have the annual sculpture exhibition - you can take in some art while getting in some exercise and breathing in some fresh sea air. And the bonus is it's free so it's accessible to everyone.

There were so many creative and inspiring sculptures this year and below are some of my favourites.
